When We Pay Compliments

When you cannot get a compliment in any other way pay yourself one. —Mark Twain

A compliment from others reassures that whatever we’re doing, we continue doing. We pay tribute to ourselves when we finally see what others see in us. We begin to believe in ourselves. Therefore, we rely more on our abilities. Compliments motivate us to continue doing what we know best. We don’t need to get compliments from others all the time, but we do need to pay compliments to ourselves as much as we need them. We sometimes can be harder on ourselves than we’re on others. It is easier sometimes to get frustrated with ourselves than with others. Only if, we’re patient with ourselves as we were with others. When we were patient with others, we allowed the other person to make mistakes and to learn from the mistake while guiding them. Why not do the same for ourselves.

What’s Stopping You?

What ever we’re doing or not doing is all based on a belief system. It is no coincident that our actions are based on a belief system that we use everyday. We no longer think about what we need to do next because most of our actions are made unconsciously. But when we first learn something new our actions were made consciously and deliberately. We may now wonder why we struggle to obtain our goals or procrastinate at the last minute to start doing what we set out to do couple months earlier. In order words, what is stopping us from obtaining our goals? What are the beliefs that we’re saying to ourselves is somehow stopping us from doing what we want for our lives? These are questions that we ask ourselves.

Believe in the Possibilities

day 7: Possibilities
Post Written By Eugene Morgan

If we don’t believe in what’s possible, then we don’t have a clear picture in what’s possible. Knowing what’s possible is really looking back at our experiences. In our experiences, we can see that we have made accomplishes and have achieved successes.

Looking back at our experiences are our resources to help us to look into the future in what we could do that’s possible. This exercise is useful because when fears, doubts, and excuses are keeping us from doing what we want to do in our lives, we can always look at what we have done in our pasts that can helps us through them.

If we believe in the impossibility, then our minds are closed. A closed mind doesn’t consider or wonder what’s possible even when we see clearly what’s possible for someone else. We don’t want to believe it to be possible for ourselves because it seems so foreign to us.

If we imagine ourselves outside looking in only seeing the other person doing what’s possible, then it would feel foreign to us to consider doing it ourselves. But if we paint a picture of ourselves doing what we believe is possible, then we will have better grip on the new situation.

What is Self-Worth?

Self-ish

What is self-worth? Self-worth means placing emphasis on how much we value ourselves. How much we value our selves affects every area of our lives. Self-worth can affect our relationships, it can affect our work, and it can even affect our health.

If our self-worth decreases, then those fore mentioned areas of our lives will be affected negatively as well. If our self-worth increases, then those fore mentioned areas of our lives will be affected positively as well.  Increasing our self-worth means to believe and trust in our abilities. Our capacities are there we just need to run with them. The resources are there too, we just need to use them.

When We Believe in Limited Beliefs

Shooting tethered.
Post Written By Eugene Morgan

When we live with limited beliefs, we rob ourselves of the opportunity to see how far we can go in our abilities. If we have a belief that says we can’t do a certain thing, then pursuing it is out of the question.

We have lost the choice to see and do what we want to do. If we have a belief that says we can’t do this or that because it’s too difficult, then we create a resistance to doing it.

However, we can always challenge our limited beliefs. Inner proof is more powerful than someone trying to persuade us that we can do it. We need to test our beliefs ourselves.

Breaking down Assumptions

O Mundo Mágico de Escher

Breaking down assumptions entails questioning our beliefs.  Sometimes we believe things without checking them out.  When we don’t check things out, we keep ourselves in the dark.  But when we do question our beliefs, liberation is upon us. We no longer have to settle for limited beliefs.  Learned beliefs are passed down from one generation to next without question. We are given the answers whether we like it or not.  And we’re not allowed to question what our parents told us.  But as adult we certainly can challenge old beliefs that are out of date in our lives.
