Make Dreams, Then Make Realities

Dreams

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort. —Jesse Owens

Having a dream is nice. Dreams can make us hopeful in the midst of a struggle. With determination, dedication, self-disciple, and effort we still need to keep our eyes on the ball. We still need to be reminded as to why we started. What motivated us to begin in the first place? There are times that we want to give up when things don’t work out. We will make mistakes, put we can learn from them. We can take breaks in between our efforts. We can also reward ourselves each time we reach a milestone. We won’t know what we’re doing at first, but each day we get better and thus become more efficient in our work. We’re competing with ourselves, not with someone else. It is our dream we’re fulfilling not someone else’s. It is our treasure chest of experiences from our determination, dedication, that we will find meaningful and most fulfilling.

Completion Is Better

Finish Line

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

“What is not started today is never finished tomorrow.”— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Now is the most important time to start. Thinking about it is very different from starting it. When starting something, it is our goal to finish it sometime in the future. Some of us have many  start-up projects to only become unfinished projects. Although it takes courage to start something new, it also takes determination to finish it. If we only break big projects into smaller ones, then we don’t have to feel overwhelmed or burdened by the vast size of the project. It is possible to finish a project as long as we start with small pieces.  Finishing a piece at a time reinforces our confidence in completing all the pieces.

It’s Okay To Push Yourself, A Little

It’s okay to push ourselves a little to get the ball rolling. It’s okay to put a little pressure on ourselves when we want to meet a deadline. However, we don’t want to keep the pressure on us for hours on end, we do need to take breaks during this process so we can be most effective in completing the task we want done. Sometimes we do need a push to start a project for sure when we’re procrastinating. And putting on a little pressure on ourselves can help us to determine what our limitation are as well as our strengths. Sometimes, we assume some things we think we can’t do without trying it first. Even trying it once doesn’t really mean anything unless we keep at it until there is progress made.

To Become A Warrior

Warrior & Horse

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

To meet a challenge, we must become warriors. A warrior is willing to make sacrifices to meet his or her goals. Having the archetype of a warrior is important when it comes to completing our goals. To start something new, we need the warrior’s mentality to move mountains. We need the strength and the will of a warrior in spite of our feelings, distractions— which we will carry through what we set out to do. A warrior believes that he or she is expected to win. A warrior is willing to fight for a cause that could improve the lives of self and others.  A warrior is expected to rise when life challenges are difficult.

Finding Your Labor Of Love

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

We won’t know what we can do, if we don’t try. How can we find what we’re good at, if we don’t try? Some of us won’t try because we have a fear of the unknown. Fear can be use as an excuse for not knowing what we’re capable of doing. Even when we have the potential or the genes for it, we still need to work on it, to develop it and to mold it. If we were to ask ourselves what things that are holding us back, it would be commitment, time and labor; these are the ingredients for success if we want to make things happen. If we are willing to make the sacrifice and put in the effort, then the possibility is greater to see the fruit of our labor.

Go After What You Want

“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.” Nora Roberts

As long as we sit idle, we will never have what we want. To get what we want, we have to go after it and do what it takes to get it. If we don’t ask, how would we know the answer. To get to where we want to go, we need to ask how to get there. When we get the information on how to get there, then we must step forward and carry out those things we’ve learned.  If  we  were to do what it takes to get what we want, then inevitably we will get what we want.

The More You Put in, The More You Get

The more we put in, the more we get something out of it. So if we’re not putting in the effort, then we won’t have a feeling of satisfaction.  So what are the benefits of putting more into our goals? We have an opportunity to learn something about the subject. If it is exercise, then there is a health benefit. If it is education, then it may improve our chances of getting higher paying job. When we put in the time and effort, we get a return. Our returns from our efforts don’t necessarily means money. Our returns may be a feeling of satisfaction, having a purpose or desire or just being content doing what we enjoy.

When Feelings Come and Go

Feelings come and feelings go. We ought to realize we can’t depend on feelings when it comes to starting and completing a project or a task. But most of the time we do feel good after working hard all day.

Even the smallest things we do can give us a feeling of accomplishment.  Starting something new can be the hardest thing to overcome, because we’re truly battling with our thoughts, questioning us about whether this will be worth our time and energy.

These internal conflicts can be settled if we think about the pros and the cons of tasks and what are the risks.

The part of us that’s resistance to starting something new just want to be assured that we’re going to get something out of it, such as, payment, enjoyment, experience, and reward that will help us in the long run.

Risks will always be involved in anything we do. Mistakes big or small will happen. Mistakes are for us to learn and improve.

Action Always Guarantees The Possibility of Success

It is true that our actions always guarantee the possibility of success. Our actions gives us more than what we hope for when we don’t expect something in return.

Our actions can lead us to opportunities that would have been missed if we hadn’t made any action towards our goals. Action is what built great things like the pyramids, the rocket that took humans to the moon, the Internet, and developed a vaccine for polio.

Children watch the actions of their parents and their teachers to learn and be guided. When we watch someone’s action, we’re learning how certain things are performed. Action is a very powerful tool.

Our actions can make a difference in our lives and the lives of others if we do more of it.

Drive Through Success

Where can we find the drive to make things happen in our lives? Sometimes we need the urge to move forward to get things done.

Some of us need a deadline to get us to complete a project while others just need encouragement.  Some of us love to be challenged to move forward while others would rather compete.

Drive is what makes a successful person. But along with drive we need a clear purpose and direction. We don’t want to waste our drive because drive without purpose means a burnout.

Our interests and motivation equals our drive to make things happen. That’s what make a successful person look forward to getting up in the morning to do what they love doing.

Move From Within

Do we know our defenses?  Do we know what stops us from doing what we want to do? In psychoanalysis, a defense is a mechanism used to protect a bruised ego.

We don’t like to feel exposed because there is the possibility that when we succeed in something, we get noticed. When we get noticed there is potential for criticisms or attacks as well as praises.

This is one of many reasons why we fear success.  But we don’t have to base our motivations on external things but we can base our motivations on what drives us inside that moves us into action.

What drives us from within and where we place our attention is more important than reacting to criticisms and attacks, because they can be detractors, if we’re not too careful.

You Have The Power Within To Follow Your Own Path

Our internal resource is our power to move things in our lives; resources that we have acquired over our lives through our experiences.

As long as we’re learning new experiences, we’re accumulating our power. The problem for most of us is learning to get access to our resources to help us to succeed in life.

Our limited frames of reference, our biases and our limitations tend to get in the way. These are the challenges that we have to contend with thus freeing some of these things so we can use what we already have within.

We tend to give our power away when we don’t follow our own path in life.  The power within us can free us from our biases, only if we open our minds up for new ideas and follow our own path.

Keep At It

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Keep at it when we see no end in sight.  Keep at it when everything so far has failed. Keep at it when no one but us believes in what we’re doing. Keep at it when we don’t see any reason to continue.

Keep at it when it’s raining. Keep at it when it’s snowing. Keep at it when we have a good reason to stop. Keep at it, especially, when we’re in self-doubt.

Keep at it when we want to find excuses to stop. Keep at it when it seems so impossible to do. Keep at it after we have completed the task.

Keep at it when we feel tired. Keep at it when distraction is plaguing our concentration. Persistence is one of the elements of succeeding so keep it at.
