Heart of Hearts

Photographers expand horizons in 2010 Army Digital Photography Contest 110311

We cannot achieve more in life than what we believe in our heart of hearts we deserve to have. — James R. Ball So if we find ourselves not achieving what we set out to do, then maybe is because we don’t believe in our hearts that we don’t deserve success, or we don’t believe in ourselves. We only deserve success when we know in our hearts that we’ve worked so hard to achieve success. We got to believe in ourselves even for the possibility of success. It all right to have ambitions in life to help motivate us. We have every right to have deserved success just as anyone else.

Breathe, Step Back, Think

Breathe. Step back. Think. Then react. — Unknown

Sometimes our mouth moves before we think. Sometimes we see the trees before we step back to see the forest. Sometimes we forget to breathe before we react. When breathing normally, we’re getting more oxygen to our brain. Then maybe we’re getting the opportunity to think clearly about seeing the event at a wider scope. When we put events into different perspective, we have the chance to react appropriately with a clarity not so much with a knee-jerk reaction.

No Two Are Alike

Every building is a prototype. No two are alike.— Helmut Jahn

We’re just like a building, no two are alike. We’re born original. So our goal in life is to be original and stay unique which means to grow into ourselves. We should be what we’re intended to be because we will be happier in the long run. We will be able to express honestly to the world what we always meant to be because we can be true to ourselves and others. We can all bring our unique styles together, and that’s what make the world interesting with a lot of variety. Variety is more stimulating to our senses. We don’t need to copy someone else’s uniqueness but become more of our unique selves.

Imagine It, Achieve It, and Become It

Arizona Dream

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it. —  William Arthur Ward

It is incredible that we can imagine an idea and turn it into something real that can affect everyone who touches it or are touched by it. It is wonderful that we can dream of doing something in our future self that keeps us going today. The power of our imagination is that we can see it in our mind’s eyes the way we want it before it’s ever created. In our dreams we see ourselves doing what we most want or desire in our lives and become it if we want it bad enough.

New Choices Today

Every day brings new choices. — Martha Beck

Every day is an opportunity to make a choice or accurately make new choices.  Choices are as full as our minds. It depends on the mind on how many options we can see that’s in front of us.  It is not enough to see the choices; we can take some that are relevant to our situation.  Some decisions are life-changing that can affect our entire life. Behind the choices we make, comes an opportunity to shake up our world. Every day also brings us an opportunity to make our lives better than before if we want. If we’re already content with our lives, then we can be grateful that we have another day to express our essential self.

A Different Angle

Vitality shows in not only the ability to persist but the ability to start over. — F. Scott Fitzgerald

Starting over doesn’t mean it is the end of the world. It doesn’t mean we’ve wasted time. It is better to start something over sooner rather than later. It becomes a problem when doing the same things repeatedly that will give us a better outcome. It is better to try different approaches or look at the problem from a difference angle. We can be persistent all we want to, but if we continue without reconsidering another way, then we’re doomed to cliché patterns that only gets us nowhere. Instead, we have an opportunity to start over with a different way of looking at things.

Dancing In the Rain of Life

Dancing in the rain

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain. — Vivian Greene

Life is never going to be the exactly the way we think it should be. We have no control over that. But for us to reduce our anxiety we ought to learn to accept the roughages of life because this is how we embrace life and how we feel most alive. This how we dance in the rain of life. Since we’re a part of life, let us participate instead of standing on the sideline of life. We’re going to get some bumps and bruises, but we will also get some life back into our lives.

No One Is Without Struggle

Struggling

Kindness begins with the understanding that we all struggle. — Charles Gassman

When we’re more accepting of our struggles, we become more empathetic to others who’s struggling. We all have struggles we deal with on a daily basis. Accepting ourselves is another form of kindness. We need others that are important to us to have some understanding of our struggles. We’re all in this together. We all have needs and wants to be met. It is nice to know that we’re not alone and that we can talk to a friend. There is comfort in knowing that no one is without struggles in life.

Best and Forget

Don’t stress. Do your best and forget the rest. — Unknown

When we know we can only do our best, and forget about the rest, we won’t stress. Stress is worrying about making things be smooth sailing. We just got to be satisfied with our best work instead of worrying about making everything perfect which is impossible to do. We don’t need all stress or unnecessary stress. We need just enough pressure to make us move. Forgetting about things that make us stressful or we allowed into our lives can be very helpful in the long run. However, focusing on a task can lower our stress level because our best is all that’s necessary.

A Different Light

Primary Light Experiment #3Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Always end the day with a positive thought. No matter how hard things were, tomorrow’s a fresh opportunity to make it better.— Unknown

When we had a bad day, it is easier to spend time obsessing over the unpleasant events. Spending time obsessing over them only makes it difficult to end the day with positive thoughts. Having a bad day doesn’t mean that our whole day was bad. Because it started out bad doesn’t mean we have to end our day badly. Discounting the positive is counter productive. We can always find something positive in our day.  That’s where having a sense of humor can come into play, because humor can help us look at a difficult situation in a different light.

Confidence and Encouragement

Encouragement

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Correction does much, but encouragement does more. — Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

We need both correction and encouragement. We need correction so that we know what mistakes we’re making. Corrections may sting us a little. However, we become better people. Supports are made to help us to continue improving on the things that were corrected. Although encouragement does more to build up confidence, correction builds up character. What we need the most is a character. A character is expressed through how much confidence we have in ourselves. We are unafraid to be ourselves because of our trust.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Action

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Actions speak louder than words, but not nearly as often. — Mark Twain

It is easier to talk about what we want to do than doing.  We’re just stalling when we’re doing more talking than doing.  Putting in the effort takes a lot the work. It is hard to maintain consistency from the beginning, middle and finally the end of the work. Talking about taking action to others only feed our ego. However, it’s only temporary until we see nothing gained but only see regrets. Confidence building comes from our actions not from the mouth. We need our whole body to participate in an action.

Believe the One Reason

What's Above

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Forget all the reasons it won’t work and believe the one reason that it will. — Unknown

It makes a difference where we place our attention on what we can find that works versus what we can find won’t work. It takes a certain time to find what works. We will find more things that won’t work before we begin to find what does work. When we find what does work, we will say it was all worth the struggle. Sometimes we have to step back to see the forest first before we see the trees for us to find clarity.

Joy is Your Lesson

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

joy

Don’t postpone joy until you have learned all of your lessons. Joy is your lesson. — Alan Cohen

Everything we have experienced and is experiencing are potential lessons. We just have to be mindful of them for us to learn. We go through different phases life. What we value as kids is a lot different from what we value as adults. Even as the adult we can never stop learning from life’s lessons. Lessons can teach us about ourselves, if we want to know about ourselves. However, we don’t have to exclude joy because we can learn something about it. If we’re mindful, we can observe our behavior during the day, and see what things during our daily routines we may find most joyful.

A Listening Ear

Listen

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Sometimes, what a person needs is not a brilliant mind that speaks, but a patient heart that listens. — Unknown

Sometimes we want to be quick to help solve another person’s problem, instead of just listening to what the other person is saying. Being a listening ear to someone can go a long way. Sometimes we just need to get things that we’re thinking about or feeling about out of our system. The better way of getting things out of our system is if someone just listens and in the end, we feel like we have discharged a lot of energy that we’ve been waiting to release. It’s like a weight has been lifted from our chest and now we can move on. Not only we can move on, but we can also have a better handle on things that we didn’t have before because of the amount of weight we were carrying.

Opportunities Are Like Sunrises

Opportunity

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them.— William Arthur Ward

If we look around long enough, we will see opportunities. If we want it bad enough, then we would gladly take the opportunity when it presents itself to us. Why is that some of us meet with opportunities, and we don’t take them? Sometimes we wait for so long to take the opportunities because we think we have time, or we realize it will take our time away from other things. We know it is going to be hard work. We also know that this opportunity may never come again. We ought not to wait for too long because it may be too late.

Prove We Can’t Before We Dismiss It

Ohio River Greenway Project

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

It’s not who you are that holds you back; it’s who you think you’re not. — Unknown

After going down a list of things to ourselves who we think we’re not, then what is left for us to do? Yes, we hide behind a list of what we can’t do because we’re allowing our fears to take over. Everything we do that’s new to us takes practice. Practicing the same tasks over and over can improve over time. There are certain expectations we have to meet each day until we become proficient at it. It’s a matter of time becoming that idea. When we start a new job, we’re given a title. By our job title, there are certain expectations that others have of us that we must do. As a new employee, we’re given at least six months to prove to our employers and ourselves that we can meet the demands of a position.  So instead of us being so quick to dismiss things we think we can’t do, let us give ourselves a chance to prove to ourselves if we can do it.

Attitude Makes a Difference

Incurably Optimistic!

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Make your optimism come true. — Unknown

It is better to have an optimistic attitude than to have pessimistic one. It is our attitude that affects our world and how we live our lives. We have ups and downs in our life. It is how we live our life in spite of the ups and especially the downs we all have in our life.  Besides our downs are temporary, and only part of our life and we can make a choice not to be defended by them. We can see them as the roughages of life that each and every one of us experiences. We can make optimism real in our lives by creating an atmosphere is by living our lives to the fullest and freely the things that give us purpose and meaning each day and for the rest of our lives.

Heal With Change

a story called hope...

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

I realized, it is not the time that heals, but what we do within that time that creates positive change. — Diane Deetman

We need time to heal. But we also need to take the time we to heal. That means letting go and saying goodbye when we’re ready someday to say those words ‘goodbye.’ We can’t afford to hold on to something that causes us pain. We no longer have to identify with the pain. It’s all right to move past it by giving ourselves permission to start the healing process instead of allowing the pain to linger for a long time. We’re meant to go on with our life and live our lives.
