Today is Our Future

Let us make today our future and do the things we dream of doing now. Or at least we can start planning by actually writing down what we need to do to execute the plan to make our dream real. Our dream is becoming real each time we’re planning and working towards that goal. A dream is a vision of ourselves fulfilling a wish we have today. That wish can be a reality if we work with tenacity and consistency toward that place where we want to be. To travel the road to success can be a lonely road. However we do need some alone-time to focus on what we need to do next to get there.

But We Can Change Our Future

Five Past Eleven

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

There is nothing we can do about our past, but we can change our future. If we don’t like the way our life is going, then we can start making a change now. We don’t have to wait for change to come, instead we can make the initiative to change things now. Now is the best time to start a change, because if we start to change things tomorrow, tomorrow may turn into weeks, weeks may turn into months, months may turn into one year, one year may turn into two years, and so on. Two years could have been enough time do what’s needed to alter our future. The decisions we make now will influence our future.   If we want to alter our future, then we must start meeting our goals we set for ourselves today.

Be In The Trenches

When anticipating on how difficult a task will be, it’s harder to start and complete it. But when we do start on the task and keep our attention focus on the task at hand, there are usually no doubting and/or nagging thoughts about the tasks itself.

In other words, when we’re in the trenches of a task, our focus is no longer on distractions but on the work.  Although, our goal is to complete the task, the process of the task can be rewarding.

With that kind of focus, the back of our minds is finding better ways of doing an effective job. We learn better while we’re doing the task. While we’re learning our way through a task, we’re getting feedback on what is working and what isn’t working.

Reorienting Our Thinking while Vacationing

A get-a-way vacation is a useful way of reoriented our thinking. It’s easy to fall into a routine.  With a routine we tend to think about the same thoughts, which can trigger negative thoughts.

Getting out-of-town can help us to get out of our old routines and into something different. Getting into another atmosphere can decrease our stress.

So stress can trigger anxiety and anger, which can lead to depression, if not expressed properly.

But, when our attention is on something other than our old routines, our minds; freed.

So, when we return to our homes and jobs, we noticed things that we haven’t noticed before and look at things differently.

We look at things differently, because of our renewed minds and our energized bodies. Thus, our performance is better.

Today is December 1st

December 2011 (Nevada)
Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Today is December 1st. December represents the last month of the year.  In December, most of us celebrate the last big holiday of the year.

As we get closer and closer to the end of year,  2011 begins to become our past as we reflect.  Some of us will ask ourselves if we have done the things we wanted to do while others may say, “what a year this was.”

Some of us may say, “2011 has come and gone.”  After we’re done reflecting on 2011, some of us will start thinking about resolutions. Some of us will surmise about whether resolutions were meant to be broken, while others will gear up for another challenge.

However, today is December 1st and let us enjoy the next 31 days we have left of 2011.

Living in the future Moment

Moment
Written by Eugene Morgan

Living in the moment is better than living in the past.  Is living in the moment better than living in the future?  When we’re in the moment we lose some sense of time.  We have all experienced being so focused on a task that we lose track of time.  We stop tracking time, when we’re so focused on the task in front of us.

Losing track of time means to let go of some external influences.  One of the benefits of being in the moment is that our anxiety decreases.  Our anxiety decreases because we stop worrying about what we need to do next.

So, is living in the moment better than living in the future?  That’s a good question, isn’t it?  We can live in the moment when we need a moment and we can plan the next thing when we need a plan.

Treasure Chest of Happiness

Trail through Pine Scrub

“Leave a trail of happiness…and look forward to the days when you can look back,” Milton Erickson

Whatever we do to make us happy, we can collect and put them in our treasure chest.  We can save them for later.  When we have an investment of happiness, in our later years, we can look back.  Our happy events in our lives are the past events that happened to us. When Erickson says to “look forward to the days,” he’s saying to us to anticipate recalling the happy times in our lives.  So instead of us focusing on our regrets, he want us to focus on our collected memories of the happy events that took place early in our lives, because these events become powerful resources to our lives later when we especially need them as we age.
