The Joy In Our Potential

Joy

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

“Joy comes from using your potential.”— Will Schultz

Our treasure lies in our potential. Our potential is like a coal in transformation to become a diamond. Our potential is just below the surface ready to be resurfaced to move mountains in our life. If only we get ourselves a chance to develop our potential into something useful. Milton H. Erickson once said, “I always enjoy discovery what I can do.” In other words, we don’t know how far our potential can take us but it will be nice to find out. It is up to us to develop our potential into something that will bring joy into our lives. The power within is our latent potential ready to express itself. So we ought not to be unafraid to use what is ours.

Tap Your Potential

Every one of us has potential that we haven’t tapped in yet. We have potential that we didn’t know we had.  It is never too late to find out about one’s self. Although we know a lot about ourselves, we can still discover more things about ourselves. Every one of us has strengths and weaknesses. Many of us have the tendency to focus on our weaknesses instead of building on our strengths. Our strength comes from our latent potentials because we took the courage to access them. We don’t have to be afraid to embrace our potentials and find our what we’re made of.

Inner Resources

Sometimes we need to be reminded that we all have inner resources that we can always draw upon when we’re in need.  No one can take away our resources. We always take our resources where ever we go.  Our resources are accumulations of our experiences. Since we experience something every moment of our lives, more resources are added. The resources we have are our latent potentials that every one of us possesses. The latent potentials are our opportunity to discover how far we can go in our lives.

When We’re Challenged

When we are challenged or we challenge ourselves, it may mean that we want to break through our rigid ideas. Being challenged gives us the opportunity to break free from our own restrictions. Being challenged means to go beyond our comfort zone. Being challenged means to find out what we’re made of. Being challenged is about self-discoveries.  If we challenge ourselves, there is an opportunity for possibilities. Being challenged implies that there is more potential inside us than we know.  If we take on the challenge, then growth is inevitable. If we take on the challenge, then learning something is certain.

Breaking Through

We all know that we have potential. We forget that our potential is in each one of us. In some ways when we forget about the potential within us, then we don’t look for opportunity to develop the skills that come out of our potential. Another reason we may forget about our potentials because we know what it takes for us to develop them into a skill. No matter how we slice it, to develop any skill, it’s going to take some effort. We don’t have to feel overwhelmed about the amount of effort needed to develop something. Breaking out of an old routine into a new routine is where most our efforts will be.

Finding Your Labor Of Love

Bowl of Fruit

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

We won’t know what we can do, if we don’t try. How can we find what we’re good at, if we don’t try? Some of us won’t try because we have a fear of the unknown. Fear can be use as an excuse for not knowing what we’re capable of doing. Even when we have the potential or the genes for it, we still need to work on it, to develop it and to mold it. If we were to ask ourselves what things that are holding us back, it would be commitment, time and labor; these are the ingredients for success if we want to make things happen. If we are willing to make the sacrifice and put in the effort, then the possibility is greater to see the fruit of our labor.

Potential Is Like An Idea

Does it matter how much potential we have? What’s important is that we use our potential and not waste it.  We can use it to help humanity and the earth. Our potential is energy ready to be used to help us grow into a skill that’s natural to us.  We each have our unique way to grow our potential into something real that can be helpful to everyone.  It’s incredible that our mind can focus on an idea and that idea can development into something real. The idea has the potential to turn into something real if we make an effort.

What will The Self Offer For The Self

Sunflower Seeds
Post Written By Eugene Morgan

The self offers a lot for the self, if only we pay attention to the self, then we will know what’s offered. We have latent potentials waiting for us to be used.

We just have to mold them and shape them to our wishes and desires. Our potentials lie within each of us. We may wonder what our latent potentials are.

Our actions show a glimpse of our potentials.  Those glimpses are the things we tend to gravitate towards our likes, our desires and our dreams.

Our potentials are the by-product from our everyday experiences. Our unconscious minds like to collect experiences and reused them as potentials.

Our potentials take time to develop and mature into something skillful and useful to give to the self and give ultimately to society.

Don’t Underestimate Your Potential

Sometimes we are so quick to criticize our work. We don’t give ourselves a chance or room to grow into our potentials.  We place such high standards on ourselves that we get easily frustrated with ourselves when we don’t meet them.

When we get frustrated we lose focus on what is important. What is important is learning to experience our latent potentials. Potentials are only clues and glimpses of what we can become.

Discovering our potentials can be a surprising experience. Our potentials are made from our experiences thus help us along the way through life. And what we learned from our experiences is stored up for future uses in the guise of our potentials.

Creating An Inner Experience

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

It is within us that we create our inner experiences. It is within us that we create change. For us to deal with reality, we must close our eyes for moment and think about our dreams and our imaginations and our learned experiences.

We are free to dream up anything we want and to do anything we want in our dreams. Our imaginations are our limit to what we can dream.

In through our dreams and our imaginations we experience many things. We have a storehouse of dreams, experiences and imaginations that are volumes of resources for us to tap into that create within us strength and courage to what we so want in our lives.

Do We Dare to Focus On The Possibility?

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

If we focus on how perfect we need to be, then it would be difficult to focus on what’s possible. We don’t have to be perfect before we can perform on the stage of life, instead we can focus on what is possible.

In what is possible, is self-evidence when we reexamined what we learned over the years. The experiential learning is the gas that helps us fuel the car of life.

We just need to tap into that learning so we can trek to the different places in our lives that we haven’t been before.  We forget that we have a lifetime of learnings ready for us to tap into to further our lives’ journey.

The Things We Can’t Change

Is the glass half empty or half full?
Post Written By Eugene Morgan

There are some things we can’t change.  Those things we can’t change, we must let go. Acceptance helps us to deal with things we can’t change.

Things that are beyond our control, we can’t change. Acceptance can be a powerful force, because we can steer our energies into something else that we can change.

Although we can change some things, we can definitely change our attitude on the way we see things. This is about changing our perspectives.

Just as acceptance can be a powerful force, changing our perspectives can be as well. They both can save us a lot of energy. Energy is the power within us that can be put into good use.

Why Goals

Train Tracks
Written By Eugene Morgan

Sometimes we give up too soon on a dream or a goal, because it seems so big, or we worry about what others may think. It’s easy to come up with excuses than to trek through the goals we set for ourselves.

Sometimes, we doubt ourselves way before we start working on the goal.  Goals are opportunities for personal growth.  Goals are deliberate.  Goals awaken our potentials. Goals are rewarding when completed.

There are short-term goals and long-term goals.  Long-term goals are mini short-term goals met steadily. Meeting short-term goals are like connecting another piece of train track for the wheel of a cart to move forward.  It’s sound tedious, because part of work will be tedious, but it’s necessary.

Journey Loves Experiences

Journey to the Light..
Written By Eugene Morgan

We all have our own journeys we trek through; no one has the same journey. On some level, we all trek through our own journeys alone.

Trekking through our own journeys alone isn’t isolation from others. We trek through our own journeys together alone.

This means we each bear our own journeys, and we have made our own prior decisions to get where we are today.

Our own journeys in life are where we get our own experiences.  Our own experiences are powerful resources that cannot be taken away. These resources are raw stuff that inhabits each one of us.  The raw stuff that is ready for use.

Life grows in Strength

Written by Eugene Morgan

What makes us stronger is what life throws at us.  Life isn’t always easy; beside we would get bored if life were always easy.  When confronted with life challenges, we have the opportune time for growth.  Growth helps us build a foundation to handle better the next life challenge that comes our way.  Each time we go through a challenge we experience growth and from growth we learn something about the experience.  When the challenge is no longer in front of us but behind us we are stronger.

Possibilities

Possibility
Written by Eugene Morgan

Possibility is a lovely word.  Possibility means that there is a way; we just have to find how to get there.  Possibility means there are obstacles we must deal with.  Possibility means there is hope that we will succeed.  Possibility implies potential in us that can make things happen.  Possibility is like a locked door that opens— waiting for us to walk in.

“I win Olympic Championships”

“Out of a wheelchair I win Olympic championships all the time.” Milton Erickson

As you can see from most of Erickson’s quotes, he’s good at turning a phrase. It’s interesting how he links “a wheelchair” with winning “olympic championships” together. The message he wants us to get is that in spite of  our limitations, we don’t have to yield to them.  Erickson made himself an example for people around him that he set goals and carry them out even in a wheelchair. All of us have different kinds of limitations that get in the way of our goals. Erickson wants us to stop looking at our  limitations, and start looking toward our goals we set  and win championships. It’s also interesting that Erickson didn’t say he won the state, national, or international championships, he said Olympic championships.  In other words, he’s saying be unafraid to go for the big win—go for gold!

Athlete with signs of Potential

Written by Eugene Morgan

“Little is really known of the actual potentials of human functioning.” Milton Erickson

Erickson is correct that we don’t know how far we can go with our potentials.  We don’t know our actual potential until it is fully developed.  We can’t find out what those potentials are until we do something.  Accumulated potentials are experiences that lie dormant until it’s needed.  When we hear other say about an athlete who has potential, they’re really seeing the beginning signs of potential.  It will be up to the athlete to see how far he will take to develop his potential into something useful.  Although, we don’t know how far an athlete will take to see his potential develops, we can see signs of it.  These signs are important to note.

We shouldn’t ignore these signs in ourselves, especially, when others in our world often mentions these potential signs to us.   Because we have the potential for something, it doesn’t mean it’s easy to develop it into something great.  The most talented person is constantly fine tuning his craft to get to a higher level because he still sees signs of potential in himself.
