Set Goals

Goal !!

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time. — Zig Ziglar

It is a time waster when we don’t have a direction in our lives. It is important to aim at something that’s in the future so we can do what’s necessary today. A goal is something we desire in the end. A goal or an aim keeps our minds focused on the task at hand. We can’t just wait for something to happen. Instead, we set goals that are obtainable and hope for another day that we have an opportunity to get closer to meeting them. It can be any goal we desire or that we have a passion for doing because that’s what going make us happy. Goals and obtaining goals can make us happy when we set them and then carry them out. If we desire more control of our lives, then we must set goals.

Character, Commitment and Discipline

Simple Times

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action, and discipline that enabled us to follow through. — Zig Ziglar

Character, commitment, and discipline are elements for a successful life. Most of us know this. However, it is important to be reminded. When we had a hard day, we can say to ourselves that we’re building character. When we get frustrated with something, we can say to ourselves to stay discipline and keep ourselves together. When we struggle to get something done, we can say to ourselves that we’re building character because it is important to us and that we will follow through with what we’ve started. If we want something, it will require all three of these elements. There is no such thing as a free lunch. We’re happier when we earn our keep. We feel good about ourselves because we did something for ourselves.

Life Happens

Spring time

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Let life happen to you. Believe me: life is in the right, always. —Rainer Maria Rilke

We’re here to experience life as it is. We don’t have to distort reality for us to live life. We’re all in this together. Life is not a vacuum we will be affected by everything we experienced. Life is a learning experience for discovery. We learn something about ourselves, others and the world. We’re part of a bigger picture.  It is not just humans experiencing life, but other like animals, insects, etc experiences life. Spring is the celebration of life. We see a new plant growing from the ground, we see flowers blooming, we hear birds chirping in anticipation of Spring. Life is a continuous experience we live in. Let us set back and enjoy life while we’re here.

A Good Plan Will Do

Intricate

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow. — Proverb

In other words, we don’t have to make our plan perfect before we start. We won’t ever start if try to make a perfect plan. However, we can start with a good plan and make the plan better as we move along. The most important thing is that we start executing our plan because we won’t know what we need to improve on until run through the plan. Today is always a good time to start. We don’t have to wait until tomorrow to begin. Sure, there will be mistakes made, but as long as we pay attention to the kinds of mistakes we’ve made and learn from them, then we can make a better plan. Planning is better than procrastinating because you’re not in a hurry to get it done. When we plan, we have more control over what we’re doing.

The Most Effective Way

The most effective way to do it, is to do it. — Amelia Earhart

If we want to get better at something, we have to do it over and over. Doing something once or twice will not cut it. If we do something that makes us uncomfortable enough times, then we will be less uncomfortable. It is all right to get our hands dirty. It’s nice to give ourselves room and time to grow. We can only learn so much by watching from the sidelines. Getting into the trenches is the fastest way to learn to do something effectively.  Our action is what can move things along. Idleness gets nothing done. Each time we do the new thing, we gain more experiences. We can teach others from what we’ve learned from our experiences.

When We Make Time

Time Travel: We Leave For New Zealand Today.

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

You will never ‘find’ time for anything. If you want time, you must make it. — Charles Buxton

The quote above is an old cliche, but it is also a truism. It can still apply to our lives especially when we say to ourselves that we don’t have the time or enough time to do anything. We can always scale back and prioritize what’s important to do first. We forget that we create time. The things we are doing right now is the time we’ve created. At one point we made a conscious decision to make time to do something and since then it has become an automatic thing we do. When the things we do become automatic, we’re no longer in the present. We need to return to the present or step back to see what things we can scale back to create other desirable things we would like to do in our lives.

Momentum Builds Confidence

Angular momentum

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

One way to keep momentum going is to have constantly greater goals. — Michael Korda

It is important to have momentum in what we do because it keeps us on track. Momentum is the energy we need to complete our goals. Why should we stop when we have the momentum, we stop when the energy ceases. Goals are already challenging to meet sometimes. It is nice to have something like momentum pushing us forward and not pulling us back. Each goal we complete builds our self-confidence to handle greater goals. Sure higher goal may be a challenge for us to complete but it won’t be impossible because we’re ready for it. We’re ready to complete our next goal because we learn from completing previous goals.  Momentum helps us to keep up the pace we need to achieve our aims.

Passionately Curious

Curious

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious. — Albert Einstein

We’re instinctually curious about the world around us and the world inside us. We’re born to want to know about things. Curiosity stimulates the mind, or we stimulated our mind when we ask a question.  We want to know the answer to every question we put forth. However, not every question can be answered. And not every question should be replied to until we’re ready. The answers may not be as important as we think. When we put forth a question, it means our minds are thinking. We’re seeking to expand our thinking, or we weigh the new information against our background and our values. In other words, we interpret the new data based on what’s important to us. We do want to see what’s behind the door; we want to know how something works. One question is not enough to satisfy our minds. We do want to understand.

Our Story Is Not Over

Just can't put this book down !

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

One bad chapter doesn’t mean your story’s over. — Unknown

We all have bad chapters in our lives, and we also have good ones as well. Not only we are stronger when we go through difficulties, but we also have a better understanding of things that we didn’t have before. Our future selves cannot go back into the past and give our past selves guidance, however, we can give the next generation some guidance.  We have regrets; however, we can learn from them. Today it is not too late to rewrite our story. Usually, our past is a good indicator of our future. If we don’t want to continue this path, we have to alter our present. Altering our present means doing something other than what we’ve been doing up to now.  It is easier to complain than to do something that’s out of our comfort zone. However, the more we alter our present, the more we rewrite our story.

Pace Like Nature

Nature

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience. —Ralph Waldo Emerson

Patience is a virtue. Some things take time to learn and then build. Patience is delay gratification. We want results now. We don’t want to wait. Patience is the quickest way to reach an outcome in the long run. If we get impatient with ourselves and others, then it’s going to take longer than before. Patience is a learned behavior that takes practice. While we wait and see the result of one thing, we can work on the other thing. It is all right to redirect our attention into doing something else. Time seem to move quickly when distracting ourselves with other things.

Success and Failure

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Never let success go to your head and never let failure go to your heart. — Ziad K. Abdelnour

It takes maturity to learn from our failures. Failure can give us a free education.  Failure can prove most valuable to us than success.  It tells us what actions to take and what actions to discontinue. Failure can tell us how much we need to improve before we succeed. Therefore, failure should go to our heads so we can analyze the pattern and to alter our behavior accordingly.  Success is difficult. Success can never be maintained for very long. There are peaks and valleys.  Failures and successes are part of the game of life. We can learn about life from both failures and successes. No one is exempt from failure. We need both our heart and our head working together regarding success and failure. They say we should follow our heart; we need our head to keep us in check.

Life is a Balancing Act

Balancing Act

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life. — Arthur Ashe

The old saying, it is better to give than to get. When we give, our focus is on the other person not on ourselves. When we give expecting nothing in return from another, is priceless. Yes, we do have to give to ourselves as well and allow others to give to us so that we are able to give to another. Everything in the universe is not wasted, and everything is reused, and that’s what makes a life. We give our time; we give a listening ear to another who needs it. And sooner or later, we need someone’s time and a listener to hear us out.  Life is like a mechanism; there is always a balancing act. Too much of giving or getting is not a good thing. We need a balance of both just to keep centered.

Cloud of Smoke

Glacier - The Sign

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

There is not one big cosmic meaning for all, there is only the meaning we each give to our life. — Anais Nin

If we learn today, we will have skills tomorrow and for the rest of our lives. What skills we have today are what we learned yesterday or many years ago. Therefore, what decisions we make today will always influence our future tomorrow just as the past decisions affect what we’re doing with our lives today. What are the most important things we did this morning are now the least important things we do at night. Our priority changes as the day progresses. Although there are patterns and routines we go by, not everything we think is set in stone. It depends on the context. Context is everything. Context clarifies our meanings and helps us to sort through the cloud of smoke.

Inspiration From Hard Hits and Problems

Onwards and Upwards!

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Life becomes inspiring, not in spite of the problems and the hard hits, but because of them. — Joni Eareckson Tada

We can all relate to problems and hard hits in our lives. We learn to get through problems as long as we live. Problems and hard hits are part of life and nature’s way of learning how to manage through life without our problems getting us down. We can see clearly inspiration when we see someone pull themselves out of a deep hole or someone triumph over adversity. We can learn that if someone can triumph against all odds, we can also find that strength within ourselves to push ourselves harder up the mountain. The examples of the triumph of others can evoke in us the motivation to strive to be our best self in the midst of problems.

Compasses Toward Growth

Compass

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Fear, uncertainty, and discomfort are your compasses toward growth. — Celestine Chua

We can use fear to motivate us or allow our fear to control us. We can use fears as our compass to help us test the water before swimming. Fear can help us to determine whether or not if it is safe to move forward.  We can take small chances to keep our fear in check. We will never be 100% certain about anything. Uncertainties are a part of life. We can feel uncertain and still move forward anyways. As we move forward, we will begin to uncover or erase some uncertainties we have in our mind that are unreal and untrue. When we’re presenting with something that we feel out of control, we experience discomfort. We can learn to be comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. Taking risks will always be a part of life.

A Flexible Approach

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Stay committed in your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach. — Tom Robbins

Flexibility is the high mark for growth and understanding. Flexibility requires us to have an open mind to new things. Learning and flexibility can go hand and hand. Everyone has biases. They keep our mind closed which keep us from learning and experiencing new things. When we keep our approach flexible as Tom Robbins suggested, we are trying different kinds of approaches until we find what works and what doesn’t work. Change require us to be flexible, so we don’t injure ourselves physically or psychologically.  If we want to stimulate some excitement in our lives, we must learn to be more flexible. We can be flexible but also cautious at the same time. Right balance will do.

The First Step

Success will never be a big step in the future; success is a small step taken just now.— Jonathan Mårtensson

We don’t have to wait for success in the far future. We can start now if we haven’t already. So the good new is that if we start making small steps, then we are experiencing success. Success is moving things forward towards our goals. The big part of achievement is our attitude. We’ve got to have the mindset to believe that we’re doing great work today so our lives will be better tomorrow. We don’t have to wait for the our future to feel satisfied. Instead, we can know that each step we manage to take is our success. We can pat ourselves on the back each time we make a step forward toward completing our goals. Success begets success.

Create A Life Worth Living

“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.  — William James

If we believe that life is worth living, then we look for things that will help us live a worthy life.  We will create a life worth living because we have self-worth. Somebody believes in us, and therefore, we believe in ourselves.  We have something to contribute that makes us worthy. No one is better than another person. It is hard for someone to have self-worth when they have lost everything, like there family, friends, house, etc. For us to still have these things, we can help those who have fallen if they want it. We can only guide and be a light to help them along the way to their own path.  Once upon a time, we needed help and was thankful that someone cared whether it was emotionally or physically.

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. — Anatole France

When we dream it, we see our future selves doing great things. Dreaming it is the beginning of our journey. We want to make our lives better and the lives of others. Our actions make things happen, and our dreams are the fuel that keeps us moving toward that goal. But before we act we create a plan to follow so we don’t get off track and modify it as we need to. When we believe it, we see ourselves carrying out the plan. Sure, there are some doubts, however, without a plan, there will be more doubts to deal with. As we follow the plan we see that our doubts diminish over time.  Dreaming it into reality is not an easy task, but it is doable

Be True To Yourself

Unique?

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Above all, be true to yourself, and if you cannot put your heart in it, take yourself out of it.— Unknown

If we pay someone for services, we expect to have top-notch services. No one wants to hire someone to do a half-hearted job. Just the same for us, if we aren’t into what we do and our hearts aren’t into, we owe it to ourselves, to take ourselves out of it. Instead, we find something else to do that we find satisfying and make us happy. It is really about how true to ourselves we really are. We don’t have to do this or that thing to satisfy another person or because society says we suppose to do this or that thing. If we’re authentic and feel comfortable in our own skin, then like-minded people will come around us because of us. Real people attract other real people.
