Thankful

Thankful

The thankful receiver bears a plentiful harvest. — William Blake

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

When we give thanks, we’re taking a moment out of our busy schedule. When we give thanks, we’re reminding ourselves and each other what is more important in our life. It is easier to allow ourselves to be stressed out from trivial things that we may or may not remember later. We’re thankful for things that touch our hearts in a profound way. Around the table, we’re gathered to celebrate life and to be reminded not to take for granted our lives, family and friends but be thankful we have them.

The Motivating Factor

the thin red line wine

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Poverty was the greatest motivating factor in my life. — Jimmy Dean

When stripped to almost nothing, there is something inside us that motivate us somehow to change our situation. Self-reliance grows out of life or death situations. There are times in our lives we had to hustle to get above the red line. We must learn to trust ourselves to do what is necessary to pull ourselves up out of a well. Self-preservation is a powerful motivator when we’re between a rock and hard place because we are forced to make decisions quickly and to do what must be done to get out of our predicament. There is no room for procrastination when a time is of the essence. We hear many success stories about individuals who’ve gone from rags to riches. A common denominator that motivated these individuals to do something that made a difference in their lives were an immediate threat to self-preservation.

Enjoy Your Life

~ LIVE ~

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

The best way to enjoy your own life is to stop comparing it to others. — Unknown

It is no use to comparing ourselves to others. How can we find joy in our own lives when our attention is busy comparing another. If we redirect our attention on how best to enjoy our lives, then we have no need to compare. Life is about discovery what we can do and then using what we can do to help ourselves and others. We each have to walk our own path that’s unique to us. Our lives can be meaningful and satisfying, if we let ourselves live it. We’re unique as our fingerprint let us become what we suppose to be and not what we hope to be. We live a finite life so why not live today.

The Beginning of Happiness

“Knowledge of what is possible is the beginning of happiness” – George Santayana

We’re unhappy when we get stuck in a rut. If we see no possibility of getting out of a rut, then our mind is closed for new ideas. For us to get out of a rut, we have to see things in a new light.  Ideas come after processing knowledge we have learned. New ideas help us to expand our mind to see what’s possible. Knowledge is power because it will reveal to us something that we haven’t had before.  We don’t have to be stuck doing the same thing every day. We can rearrange our routine, so we don’t have to stay stuck for long. Rearranging our routines fragment the old pattern so we can produce new patterns and new behaviors. New behaviors bring new possibility thus the beginning of happiness

Tie a Knot and Hang On

TIE A KNOT AND HANG ON

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on. — Thomas Jefferson

We all experienced days when nothing went right. Our patience was tested when everything decided to break around the same time.  We just want the day to be over before we scream at the top of our lungs. We can only fix things one thing at a time. We can’t fix things simultaneously. Although we could be in a jam, we can always take steps back to see the forest for us to figure out a plan to get ourselves out of a jam. When we take steps back, this will help us to find some clarity to see if there are options available to remedy the situation. We won’t be able to fix everything because problems will always arise. All we can do is take one problem at a time and hope for the best and keep our heads high.

The Moment of Freedom

FREEDOM...

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Freedom is instantaneous the moment we accept things as they are. — Karen Maezen Miller

What are we free from when we accept things as they are? We are free from worries. We no longer have to hold on to what we have no control over. We are free to live our lives without distractions. We are free to do what we want without the approval of others. We are free to give ourselves permission to let go without guilt. We let go things we can’t change but change the things we can. We are all in this together. We can only free ourselves and shift into a different mindset to believe we have the power within us to accept what is. We can use the power within to deal with any challenges that life throws at us. We are more powerful than we think. We just have to use it.

Thank You

Praise the bridge that carried you over. ~George Colman

When we become mindful of what we can be thankful about, then our problems become smaller. We can be thankful for the simplest thing like breathing the air. Breathing air is basic and life-saving because we can’t live without it. Simple things can make another person’s day brighter. Putting in the time and effort is always worth doing when another person thanks us for it.  Life is good when we’re thankful. Our attitude becomes positive when we’re counting the good things that are already happening in our lives. Counting the good things that are already happening can lift us out of our worries, stresses, and frustrations. Things begin to turn around when we begin to see that we’re thankful. It is worth a few moments to recall what those good things are in our lives.

Apply What We Know

There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved!

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

When we’re constantly learning but not applying what we’ve learned then we know we’re procrastinating. If we intent to apply the knowledge we’ve learned, nothing will ever get done. We will never have clarity until we start doing. Knowing and applying works together not apart.  When we apply to what we learn, we will have a better understanding of the knowledge.  The actual experiment is in the doing because we can see what works and what doesn’t work. We get quick result when we do. Knowledge give us some instructions as to how to set up things and then by setting up things reinforces the knowledge we’ve learned.

Make A Way

In A Roundabout Way

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

” Either I will find a way, or I will make one.” — Philip Sidney

If we search long enough eventually, we may find a way. If we can’t find a way, then we can create a way for us and for those who are looking for a way. Either finding a way or making a way takes determination and a willingness to learn what we’re after. In other words, if we see no opportunity, then we must consider creating opportunity. It is better to leave our minds open to new things. If we find ourselves not willing to do because it is uncomfortable, then we will never find out our potential. There is always some level of discomfort when we do something outside the uncharted territory.  However, an opportunity is where we’ve hadn’t gone or done before.

Keep Going

Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going. — Sam Levenson

We lose time when we keep checking a clock. Either we look at the clock to see how much we have left to be idle, or we look at the clock to interrupt what we’re doing. Therefore, we look at the clock to contemplate whether or not we should be doing something. If we’re going to look at the clock, we might as well use it for a deadline to press on to completing a task. The hour hand and the second hand of the clock are always moving, and that’s a good model for us to keep going until we meet our goals.

Purpose and Direction

I Never Follow Directions

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

“Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.” — John F. Kennedy

We need a plan or an end game before we start. We need courage and effort to execute a plan. But before we make a plan, we need to sit down and to think about why we want to do this. Then we need to set a goal. A goal will keep us on track as we’re making every effort to move a project forward. We must use our effort wisely. We can have a plan, direction but if we don’t have the courage to make the effort, then our plan and direction is useless.  We need all four elements (efforts, courage, purpose, and direction) for us to succeed in anything we do.

Value Upon Yourself

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

If you really put a small value upon yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price.— Unknown

We’re just as important as the next person. How we value ourselves determines how the world values us. Self-respect increases how we value ourselves. When we accomplish something that is life changing for us, we can pat ourselves on the back and be proud. Small accomplishments can also make us proud with ourselves. Everyone has disappointments and also everyone has accomplishments. Although we’re not defined by our accomplishments, but by how we see ourselves.  We don’t have to be so hard on ourselves.  Our patience is the most important virtue that we could have for ourselves because we will need it during challenging times. It starts with us to discover how valuable we are and that we have the ability to contribute to the world.

Led By Your Dreams

Dream
Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Don’t be pushed by your problems; be led by your dreams. — Unknown

We all have problems. We all have dreams. Our problems don’t have to interfere with our dreams. Our dreams don’t have to interfere with our problems. We must respect the two things. It is all right for our dreams to lead us anywhere we can imagine. We would rather be led by our dreams than to be pushed around by our problems. We can use our imagination to solve some of our problems if we can. When we are thinking about our problems, we are looking down at the ground but when we’re dreaming, we are looking up at the bright stars at night. We will always have our problems, and we will always have our dreams. Dreams are opportunities we make for ourselves to fulfill. Where we dream is where our hearts will follow.

The Mightier Conquers Self

Conquer your Self

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

He who conquers others is strong; He who conquers himself is mighty. — Lao Tzu

We tend to want to conquer others because we think that’s the source of the problem. If we don’t wield our power, someone will.  If we want control back, then we must use our power. We must learn how to conquer ourselves. Therefore, our focus has to be on ourselves, not somebody else for us to change.  It is an illusion to suggest that we can make someone change.  We have free will. Since we have free will, we can decide what we want to do, how we should react to an external situation.  When we don’t feel like doing something that’s difficult, then it is time to conquer self. When we don’t want to get up in the morning, then it is time conquer self. When we put up with it and then do it to completion, we are conquering ourselves.

From Good To Better

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

Don’t be afraid of change. You may lose something good, but you may gain something better. —

The first thing we think of when making a change is that we may lose something good. The reality is that we will lose something good. But for us to move forward on life’s journey we must make some changes. The change will always be inevitable. Change requires of us to make an extra effort in learning a new skill and learning a new routine. Therefore, in learning something new, we gain something even better than we’ve done before. During this process of change and learning, we gain confidence in ourselves. There is nothing better than having confidence in one’s self. Resisting changes make things even more difficult.  Since change is inevitable, we might as well embrace change instead on resisting change.

Feel Today Strong Tomorrow

“The pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow.” — Unknown

No one likes to experience pain whether that’s emotional or physical. However, physical pain is our body’s way of telling us to pay attention and to make the pain go away.  Psychological pain, we all experience, is, for the most part, normal reactions to difficult situations. Pain is temporary if we let ourselves feel the emotion that’s causing the pain. We can get our needed strength from all the pain we’ve experienced because we’ve had gone through the pain. Sometimes, we mask our pain through our anger because we don’t want anyone to know that we’re in pain. Anger makes us feel powerful while experiencing pain makes us feel vulnerable and weak. In truth, expressing our pain means letting go thus releasing energy. It takes a lot of energy to hold in energy.

When Life Is Bittersweet

Oriental Bittersweet

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

The difficulties of life are intended to make us better, not bitter. —

Life is bittersweet. There are some difficulties in life. There are some rewards in life. The good always comes with the bad. We ought to embrace all of it not just the good. We learn something about ourselves when we go through life difficulties than we ever would go through good things that happen to us. We can appreciate life better when we’re going through difficult times in our life. We can be grateful for the good things that happened to us. And we can go further to suggest that we ought to be thankful that we did go through trials in our lives so to make us stronger. We have a choice to be bitter or better. Bitterness only festers until nothing is left of us. However, if we chose to improve ourselves, then life can be sweeter.

A Game of Cards

Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will. ~Jawaharlal Nehru

We all come from unique circumstances, which means we have a unique perspective on things. We each have to struggle with the cards that were dealt to us every day of our lives but are unique to us. Our fate doesn’t have to be determined by circumstances. Not everyone was born with a fortune; not everyone had a perfect upbringing. But we do have a free will to overcome our unique circumstances somehow. When things are difficult, it is easy to say that we can’t do it because of our background. We ought not to give up or make excuses to stop. Yes, we have free will, however, using our free will is an opportunity for us to rise above circumstances and to live our lives as we see fit with integrity.

A Day Closer

#dreaming

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

I may not be there yet, but I’m closer than I was yesterday.  — Author Unknown

When we work on our dreams each day, it is another day closer to fulfilling our dreams. The times we want to give up are the times we have the opportunity to look again at our dreams for inspiration and motivation. Fulfilling a dream is never a smooth sailing event; there are always bumpy roads we have to go through. Those bumpy roads are there to fine-tune our new skills and to build character to prepare us to handle things better in our future.  With a dream, there is a purpose in our lives we want to fulfill. A dream without a purpose is just a dream. However, a dream with a purpose makes everything we do to fulfill our dreams have meaning. We don’t have to make a wish; instead we can make a dream come true if we continue to persist.

The Next Chapter of Life

The Next Chapter

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one. —

Holding on to the past is the very foundation as to why we can’t move forward.  Letting go of the past, also means letting go of old ideas. Some of our ideas can be outdated and that we need an upgrade. For us to move forward in life, we need an upgrade. Getting an education is always useful when we need to learn something for us to move up in life. We never stop improving our lives as long as we live each day. Each day we learn something even when that learning is outside our awareness.  We’re always picking up something. The learning may be useless, or it may be useful to apply to our daily lives.
